July 16, 2004

Angela Pomponio of The Morning Call is reporting that a drum and lighting technician for the band DOKKEN was knocked unconscious Friday (July 16) during a confrontation with another tour member inside an Allentown club, police said.

Ray E. Aparicio, 40, of Sacramento, Calif., allegedly picked up a metal drum stand and struck Randell Gillespie in the head during an argument shortly after 1 a.m. at Crocodile Rock Cafe, 520 Hamilton St., police said.

Gillespie, whose age and address were not available, was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital for a large gash on his forehead, police said.

A hospital spokeswoman said she had no information about Gillespie's condition Friday.

Aparicio spent several hours in the city jail before being arraigned by Lehigh County District Justice Karen Devine on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
